Burlington County, in cooperation with the Delaware Valley Regional Planning Commission (DVRPC), is developing a plan to replace the Mill Street Bridge (County Route
616) over the South Branch of the Rancocas Creek in Southampton.
The bridge is located between Red Lion Road (County Route 641) and Main Street (County Route 681) in Southampton. The single-span steel stringer bridge has a reinforced concrete deck. It was originally built in 1918 and is rates scour critical due to erosion around its supports. AN estimated 7,000 vehicles cross it daily.
The replacement project is currently in the Preliminary Design Phase.
A Public Information Meeting about the replacement project will be held on Feb. 12, from 6 PM to 8 PM at the Southampton Town Hall, 5 Retreat Road, Southampton. During the meeting, Burlington County officials and engineers will provide an update on the proposed project plan, bridge conditions, proposed traffic controls and anticipated construction schedule.
All members of the public are welcome to attend and ask questions about the project. Written comments may also be submitted for inclusion in the project record until Feb. 27, 2026. Following the Feb. 12 meeting, the presentation will be posted online on the County and Southampton Township webpages.
