[ARCHIVED] Burlington County Summer Concert Series Kicks Off on June 28 with Johnny Maestro Doo-Wop Tribute

You don’t need to travel far or pay big bucks to enjoy the greatest hits from the likes of Neal Diamond, Hall & Oates, Johnny Maestro and more this summer.

Tribute and cover bands from all ages and genres will be featured during this year’s Burlington County Summer Concert Series returning to the Burlington County Amphitheater most weekends beginning in late June through August. 

Among the featured performers will be The Reagan Years, an 80s tribute band renown for replicating the pop, rock, new wave and heavy metal hits from MTV-era greats like Madonna, Bon Jovi, Billy Idol, and Hall & Oates. 

Other performers in the concert lineup include renown Jersey cover band, The Nerds; Huey Lewis and the News tribute group, Back in Time; Neil Diamond tribute band, Real Diamond; and Nine Deez Nite, a collection of musicians performing 90s era hits from the likes of Pearl Jam, N’Sync, Nirvana, Snoop Dog and Red Hot Chili Peppers.

The concert series kicks off on June 28 with Step by Step, a doo-wop band celebrating the music of 50s’ and 60s’ legend Johnny Maestro.  

“If you love jazz, classic rock, doo-wop, R&B, pop, or country, this year’s Summer Concert Series will have something for you to enjoy,” said Burlington County Commissioner Director Felicia Hopson. “The free concerts are a great way for families and friends to get together and experience great performances from local, regional and national talents.”

All concerts in the Burlington County Summer Concerts series are held at the Burlington County Amphitheater, 5 Pioneer Boulevard in Westampton. Admission is free.

The complete lineup of summer concerts is as follows:

June 28: Step By Step, a tribute band celebrating the music of Johnny Maestro.

June 29: Real Diamond, a tribute band performing faithful interpretations of Neil Diamond hits.

July 12: The Wonton Soups, playing funk, ska, swing, pop and big band covers and originals.

July 13: Face to Face, a California-based punk band performing since the early 1990s. Their music appeared in the movies Tank Girl and National Lampoon’s Senior Trip.

July 26: The Reagan Years, an 80s tribute band replicating hits from Bon Jovi, Joan Jett, Madonna, Billy Idol, Def Leppard, Duran Duran, Hall & Oates and others from that era.

July 27: Back in Time, a tribute band celebrating 80s pop sensation, Huey Lewis and the News.

Aug. 2: Black Frost Band, a Willingboro funk, R&B and jazz band influenced by the likes of Earth, Wind and Fire, War, The Doobie Brothers and Toto.

Aug. 3: Haley Mae Campbell, a Nashville based country artist featured on the CMT’s “Next Up Now.”

Aug. 9: House of Hamill, Pennsylvania trio performing Celtic folk music.

Aug. 10: Nine Deez Nite, a 1990s tribute band specializing in covers from Pearl Jam, N’Sync, Snoop Dogg, Nirvana, Red Hot Chili Peppers and more.

Aug. 16: Variable Elements, a Philadelphia-based horn band performing covers from a variety of genres, including Top 40, pop, R&B, funk, smooth and acid jazz.

Aug. 17: Edie’s Basement, a Medford based performing classic rock covers.

Aug. 23: Eco Del Sur, specializing in Andean and Latin American folk music

Aug. 24: The Nerds, performing R&B, funk, dance, punk, new wave and pop hits since 1985.

Shows begin at 6 PM with an opening act, followed by the evening’s headliner at 7 PM. Attendees can set up chairs and blankets in the amphitheater beginning at 4 PM. Seating is first available, with the top row reserved for attendees with mobility challenges, including those with wheelchairs, walkers or canes, along with their caregivers.

Concert goers are permitted to bring their own food and beverages. No alcoholic beverages, tobacco, vapor products or other drugs are permitted.

The concerts are organized by the Burlington County Parks System with support from the New Jersey State Council on the Arts. They are part of a season of fun entertainment, educational classes, programs and events offered at County parks, museums and galleries all summer.

Last year, more than a million people visited a County park or attended a parks event, class or program.

“The Burlington County Parks System offers hundreds of different programs and events each year, ranging from nature walks and yoga classes to film festivals, trivia contests, history lectures and many more,” said Burlington County Commissioner Allison Eckel, liaison to the Department of Resource Conservation and Parks. “No matter your age or interest, you can expect to find an activity or event you and your family will love.”
