Work is scheduled to start this week on repaving a portion of Bordentown-Chesterfield Road in Bordentown Township and Chesterfield.

Pavement milling and overlay work will begin Wednesday, June 19, on a 4.4-mile section of the highway, also known as County Route 528, from Holloway Lane in Bordentown Township to Route 664 in Chesterfield. The work is expected to take about three weeks to complete.

Traffic will be maintained through the work area, but motorists using the road will likely experience delays and are advised to seek an alternative route.

The work is being done by Black Rock Enterprises and is part of the County’s road resurfacing program.

A total of 36.7 miles of roadway in 14 municipalities is expected to be repaved using a mix of state and county funding.

“Burlington County is the largest county in New Jersey and has over 500 miles of County roads, 411 County bridges and 700 plus culverts. Maintaining this infrastructure is one of the important services our government performs,” said Burlington County Commissioner Tom Pullion, the liaison to the Department of Public Works. “Our repaving program ensures Burlington County has safe, quality roads and we are pleased to see that work is continuing.”
