Burlington County Commissioner Allison Eckel was recognized by the Burlington County Military Affairs Committee (BCMAC) for her leadership and steadfast support for the Joint Base McGuire-Dix-Lakehurst and Burlington County’s military personnel and families.

Commissioner Eckel was awarded BCMAC’s Edward Kelly Government Leadership Award during the organization’s holiday luncheon last week. The award is named after the late Burlington County Clerk and is presented to a government leader who has demonstrated exemplary service and support for BCMAC and its mission to enhance the lives of military personnel stationed at the Joint Base.

BCMAC was created by the Burlington County Commissioners in 1987 to serve as a liaison between the Joint Base’s commanders and County officials and community leaders from towns surrounding the military installation. The nonprofit organization seeks to promote mutual understanding and appreciation for the Joint Base and its mission. It also seeks to help support military families residing in the county.

“I am honored to receive the recognition of an organization with so many dedicated members who volunteer their time and expertise in support of the Joint Base, our nation’s military personnel and their families. I would like to thank BCMAC’s officers and members for this honor and for all that they do,” said Eckel, who serves as the Commissioners’ liaison for Military Affairs.

“Joint Base McGuire-Dix-Lakehurst is vital to our nation’s defense and our County is proud to work with BCMAC to raise awareness about the installation’s importance and to ensure that Burlington County remains a premier destination for military personnel and their families to live and work,” Eckel added
