Daniel J. O’Connell is a resident of Delran where he has
lived for the past 27 years. He has been a resident of Burlington County for
almost 60 years. He is a graduate of Holy Cross High School and attended
Marquette University in Wisconsin.
Daniel was previously a locomotive fireman with Penn Central,
then was promoted to a locomotive engineer and during the course of his career has
worked for Penn Central, CONRAIL and New Jersey Transit.
Daniel then became a local union representative for the
former United Transportation Union (UTU) and became the New Jersey State
Legislative Director for the UTU. In that position, he worked with 45 other State directors at the State and Federal level on legislation and regulations to protect their members.
Now retired, Daniel is a member of the Rancocas Nature
Center, the Burlington County YMCA and a volunteer at WXPN, a public radio
station in Philadelphia, PA.
Daniel was elected to the Delran Township Town Council in
2014 and was re-elected in November 2018. Daniel joined the County Board in
2019 to fill an unexpired term and was then elected to the Board in November 2019. As a Board Member Daniel serves as liaison to the Health Department, Schools and Elections.
