Voting by Mail
The County Clerk's Office begins mailing ballots for the 2026 Primary Election on April 18.
If your ballot is lost, damaged, or has mistakes, call the Burlington County Clerk's Election Section at 609-265-5229.
Voters have until May 26 for the County Clerk's Office to receive a vote-by-mail application AND still mail the ballot to you. For applications received between May 27 through 3 PM on June 1, ballots are not mailed and can be picked up in person at the County Clerk's Office at 50 Rancocas Road, Mount Holly, Monday through Friday, 8 AM - 4 PM, or at the Burlington County Elections Building, 301 Harper Drive, Moorestown, Monday through Friday, 8:30 AM - 4 PM.

New Jersey has implemented an online vote-by-mail application system, allowing voters to apply for a vote-by-mail ballot online while keeping a paper application option available.
You must be a registered voter in order to apply for a mail-in ballot. To apply online, you will need your date of birth and one of the following forms of identification:
- A current and valid Driver’s License or a non-driver Identification Card (ID card) issued by the New Jersey Motor Vehicle Commission (MVC). Your information will be provided to the MVC to verify your identification and retrieve a copy of your digitized signature.
- A Social Security number. To use your social security number, you must have the ability to sign on-screen or upload your signature to complete the registration process. If you are unable to provide a digital signature, you can not register online.

Registered voters may apply to the Burlington County Clerk's Office for a Vote-by-Mail Ballot Application (PDF). Applications must be received in the County Clerk's Office at least 7 days before an election for a ballot to be mailed to the applicant. Mail the application to:

How to fill out a Vote-by-Mail Application (Video)
Voters may apply for a ballot in person in the county clerk's office anytime up to 3 p.m. on the day before an election.
Voters may apply in-person for a ballot at either the Burlington County Clerk's Office at 50 Rancocas Road in Mount Holly, Monday through Friday, 8:00 AM - 4:00 PM, or at 301 Harper Drive in Moorestown, Monday through Friday, 8:30 AM - 4:00 PM.
The County Clerk's Office cannot provide a vote-by-mail ballot to any voter who is on the inactive list.

Single Election Option
- Get a ballot for one upcoming election.
All Future Elections
- Check this to receive ballots automatically for all future elections, until you opt out.
Applying with Help
- If someone helps you apply, their name, address, and signature go in Section 10 of the application.
- Authorized Messenger
- You may send someone else to apply or pick up your ballot:
- They must be a family member or registered to vote in Burlington County.
- They need a photo ID and must sign saying they will deliver the ballot directly to you at the Clerk's Office.
- One person can apply for up to three voters.
- Candidates may not serve as messengers.
- You may send someone else to apply or pick up your ballot:
- If you move or want to stop mailings, submit an Opt-Out Form to the County Clerk's Office at least 59 days before an election.
How to return your ballot:
- By Mail: No postage necessary. Due to changes in USPS policies and procedures, send it early. Ballots must be postmarked no later than Election Day and received no later than six (6) days after the election.
- In person: ballots may be taken directly to the Board of Elections at 301 Harper Drive, Moorestown, Monday - Friday, 8 AM - 4 PM.
- When delivered in person, the Board of Elections must receive completed ballots before polls close on the election day.
- Secure drop box: Return your ballot to one of Burlington County's Secure Drop Box locations by 8:00 PM on election day.
- Not Allowed: Do not return your ballot to early voting sites, the Clerk's Office, or any County office except the Board of Elections.

Visiting the Polls Instead?
If you applied to vote by mail but show up at a polling station during early voting or on election day, you will fill out a provisional ballot. This will count only if your mail-in ballot was not already submitted.
Need to Opt Out?
Want to stop receiving mail ballots? Fill out the Opt-Out Form (PDF) and submit it at least 59 days before the election. Requests made later will apply to the next election.
