Notary Public Commissions

First Steps

Complete Notary Application form to file your application online and pay the filing fee of $30.

After the State processes your application, you should receive your Notary Commission by mail.

Second and Final Step-Swearing In

When you receive your paperwork from the state, you may make an appointment to bring your green certificate to the County Clerk's office or County Corner in the Moorestown Mall to be sworn in. You must do so within 90 days of the commission date on the certificate.

The fee to be sworn in is $15.

You cannot notarize until you have been sworn in. Once sworn in, you may obtain your stamp and seal at a stationary store.

Payment Note

The County Corner in the Moorestown Mall only accepts checks, money orders, or credit/debit cards. No cash payment is accepted.

Change of Name or Address

If you change your name or your address, you must file a name or address change form (PDF) with both the state and the county that holds your commission. Name changes require an additional $25 fee.

Moving Outside Burlington County

If you move outside of Burlington County, you must request a certificate of commission from the county where you are registered as a notary. There is a $5 fee for this request.

The certificate must then be filed with the new county. There is a $15 fee to register the certificate of commission with the new county.
