February 21, 2020, 2:00 PM - 3:00 PM @ Burlington County Lyceum of History and Natural Sciences
Presented by Jen Bulava. Discover an intriguing hidden world of glowing organisms found right here in Burlington County! Some objects, when subjected to ultraviolet radiation, will emit another type of light, with lower energy and longer wavelength in the visible spectrum. This phenomenon is referred to as ultraviolet-induced visible fluorescence (UVIVF). To find out what fluoresces in our area, Jen started a series called “Life That Glows” where participants walk in the dark with special UV flashlights to find glowing life. This presentation displays the photographic observations from the past 2 years of those outings and summarizes preliminary findings of Jen’s research in this exciting new field, UVIVF.
