Outstanding Women of Burlington County 

Nomination forms are distributed in September and available from the committee each August, and will be available online (PDF). The committee holds an award ceremony and dinner in May, at which time the award recipients are honored by the committee and freeholders as well as family, friends and co-workers. The dinner is open to the public.

Each year the council presents awards to women (PDF) who live or work in Burlington County, for accomplishments in several areas.

The awards are intended to honor women who have made a difference within the Burlington County community for significant contributions in their chosen field, as well as those who demonstrated their support for women. These women have acted as mentors, role models, or advocates for other women.

Examples include volunteerism in:

  • Health services

  • Social services

Women’s Lecture Series 

This is a four-part series addressing different issues facing women with topics such as stress management, nutrition, and safety, etc. Doctors or health educators from Virtua Hospital are guest speakers. See upcoming events for current list of topics and dates.

Women’s History Month School Competition 

Schools throughout Burlington County create projects designed to educate students about important roles of women in history, competing in three different categories for educational awards for their schools. Winning schools are honored at a reception held at Alice Paul Institute in Mount Laurel.

Reach for the Stars 

A mentoring program designed to educate young women on the wide variety of nontraditional career choices available to them. Currently we partner with Lockheed Martin in Moorestown, New Jersey.

Community Partnership

The purpose of this sub-committee is to address the committee’s involvement with other community projects and/or organizations and help in carrying them out. It also seeks new ways in which the council can achieve its goals and positively impact the women in Burlington County community.
