Hauntings in Burlington County: Ever wonder what inmates still linger in their cells at the Historic Prison Museum? Are H.B. and Agnes Smith still enjoying their mansion at Smithville? Just in time for Halloween, hear stories of paranormal activity at three of Burlington County’s historic sites, the Prison Museum, Smithville Mansion, and the Lyceum of History and Natural Sciences.

The Mysterious Widow of Mount Holly: She has been described as the widow who saved a Revolution, but no one knows her name.  A Hessian officer in 1776 described her as “…the exceedingly beautiful young widow of a doctor…” But is that really a clue to who she was, or a clue to whom she wanted them to believe she was? The famous Widow of Mount Holly did indeed aid the Revolution, though it is doubtful she knew to what extent. The existence of this widow was only discovered in 1979 with the publication of Johann Ewald’s personal diary written during the Revolution. Join Eric Orange as he unveils the identity of the widow. 

A Jay's Wing: In the next episode of our archive series, we are featuring "A Jay's Wing", a painting by Daphne Allen. At the time this was created, Allen was only 12 years old. The painting is part of the Burlington County Lyceum of History and Natural Science's Levis collection. Hear how the painting came into the collection, the history behind it, and the story it tells.
