Call For Artists
Attention all artists! We are seeking your creativity to enhance and inspire our community through art in our art galleries! Throughout the year, we offer over 20 artful exhibits in 3 gallery spaces, many of which display the works of local artists. Please stop in the galleries to see these outstanding exhibits and check our website to see how you can showcase your work. Every season will offer opportunities for artists to bring their work into the light and share their vision with the community.

June 6 – August 4, 2019: Science and Nature Art Show, Annex Gallery - THANK YOU TO ALL OF OUR PARTICIPANTS!
We're seeking artwork that represents nature’s splendor and highlights the scientific world. Picture a vast landscape, some gentle (or vicious) wildlife, a brilliant peak of mankind’s scientific progress, or anything in between. Capture it however you think will best represent your artistic expression and imagination as you interpret how art and science reflect the world we live in.
Artists may submit up to three works of art. Digital enhancements to the image for color balance, sharpness, to make monochrome etc. are acceptable, but image manipulation, such as creating a montage, changing the overall color of the image, etc. are not. All work must be framed and wire hung. 2D works including photography, painting, drawing, and mixed media will be accepted. Not all work entered will be hung. AUGUST 8 – OCTOBER 27 2019: 43rd ANNUAL JURIED ART SHOW, Annex Gallery
Artists may submit up to three works of art in the form of collages, paintings, drawings, mixed media, and/or sculptures. No photography, computer art, crafts or painting copies. Work previously hung in a juried art show at Smithville Mansion will not be accepted. Prospectus coming soon!

DECEMBER 5, 2019 – JANUARY 26, 2020: WINTER ART SHOW, Annex Gallery
Artists may submit up to three works of art with a winter or holiday theme. 2D works including photography, painting, drawing, and mixed media will be accepted. Not all work entered will be hung. Art is available for purchase during the Smithville Mansion Tours and Victorian Holiday events. Proceeds benefit the Friends of the Mansion, a non-profit organization. Art Intake at the Annex Gallery - November 15 and 16, 12-4 PM.
MAY 14 – JULY 5, 2020: Unnatural Art Exhibit, Annex Gallery
Some things just don’t belong. This show will feature art that shows something unnatural or slightly off. Think of fabricated landscapes, science fiction, or even something as simple as trash in a serene location. Slightly unsettling, off-putting works that make you question reality are welcome at this exhibit. Digital enhancements to the image for color balance, sharpness, to make monochrome, and image manipulation are accepted and encouraged. Think outside the box and draw outside the lines. All work must be framed and wire hung. 2D works including photography, painting, drawing, and mixed media will be accepted.
SEPTEMBER 3 – NOVEMBER 1, 2020: 44th ANNUAL JURIED ART SHOW, Annex Gallery
Artists may submit up to three works of art in the form of collages, paintings, drawings, mixed media, and/or sculptures.
No photography, computer art, crafts or painting copies. Work previously hung in a juried art show at Smithville Mansion will not be accepted.

MAY 13 – JULY 3, 2021: MONOCHROMATIC ART SHOW, Annex Gallery
Monochromatic and monotone is so much more than black & white or grayscale. Monochrome simply means ‘of one color’ ‘what color’ is, is entirely up to you. Color can change the mood and flow of an image to evoke a unique mood. Color can be bright and vibrant, even if it is only one scale.
The following requirements must be adhered to: accepted work must consist of one color with varying shades of the same color; all work must be framed and wire hung. 2D works including photography, painting, drawing, and mixed media will be accepted.
